This site contains some notes on SOA Technlogies, Products and Industries. If SOA is adopted intelligently it will deliver a string of benefits. For individual companies it will deliver cost savings, and a much faster time to market for new software applications. At an industry level many companies have agreed on standard xml message formats, to facilitate B2B messaging.

An SOA abstracts the functionality provided by applications (new or legacy) into services that represent activities of value to the business. SOA says nothing about how to build back-end services. These services may be exposed as Web services, but the services themselves could be legacy code running on a mainframe.
